PENGARUH PEMBERIAN GEL EKSTRAK ETANOL BUNGA PACAR AIR (Impatiens balsamina Linn.) TERHADAP PENURUNAN LUAS LUKA BAKAR DERAJAT IIA PADA TIKUS PUTIH (Rattus norvegicus)

Background: Burn is defined as tissue loss due to contact of skin with a heat source, such us exposure to hot water. Garden balsam flower contains antiinflammatory substances that can accelerate healing of grade IIa burns. Objective: To prove the effect of ethanol extract of garden balsam flower (Impatiens balsamina L.) gel application on the reduction of surface area of grade IIa burns in white rats (Rattus norvegicus). Method: Experimental study with post test only control group design. Samples were divided in to 4 groups, A (Basic gel), B (Garden Balsam Flower Gel 5%), C (Garden Balsam Flower Gel 10%), D (Garden Balsam Flower Gel 15%). Burns were created using metals heated in 100oC water for 3 minutes then put on the back of the rats without giving pressure for 10 seconds. Gel extracts were applied from day 1 until day 9 and surface area was measured on day 10, analyzed with One Way ANOVA, Post Hoc and Linear Regression test. Results: One Way ANOVA test result showed that there was a statistically significant effect of ethanol extract of garden balsam flower gel application on the reduction of surface area of grade IIa burns. Post Hoc test result showed that the effect was 76,7%. Linear regression test showed that the 15% concentration group gave the most significant effect. Conclusion: There is an effect of ethanol extract of garden balsam flower (Impatiens balsamina L.) gel application on the reduction of surface area of grade IIa burns in white rats (Rattus norvegicus
