ANALYSIS OF ENGLISH BORROWING WORDS USED IN JAWA POS NEWSPAPER

This study intended to investigate English borrowing words in Indonesia newspaper, Jawa Pos published on October 18th, 2019. The purpose of this study is to know types of borrowing words in newspaper based on Hoffer’s types. The researcher uses descriptive qualitative method, to describe and analyze types of borrowing words in Jawa Pos newspaper. The main instrument used in this study is document analysis of articles in Jawa Pos newspaper. The result of this study shows that there are three types of borrowing in linguistic classification. They are loanword, loanblend, and loanshift. In this research, loanshift is the most dominant used in Jawa Pos newspaper published on October 18th, 2019. The total number of loanshift found in an educational article is twenty-two data. While for sports articles, the total number of loanshift found is twenty-seven data
