In fact, during the needs analysis and problem analysis, there are still first grade students in elementary schools who still cannot read and write. There are still some students who are still not fluent in reading or writing well. Therefore, it is felt that there is a need for new innovation by developing a learning medium to overcome reading and writing problems. As a source of data, selected first grade students at SDN Margopatut 2 Sawahan, Nganjuk in the academic year 2020/2021 who had a total of 17 students This research uses the type of development research. The data source was obtained from teachers and first grade students at SDN Margopatut 2 Sawahan, which numbered 17 students. Data collection techniques using a validation questionnaire before heading to the implementation phase of the Read and Write learning media (BATU) which has been validated by 2 material validators and the media to find out the results of the development of learning media. Then also use the student response questionnaire to find out the attractiveness of the development of media literacy (BATU) that is implemented. Based on the research results of the literacy learning media in SDN Margopatut 2 Sawahan in the first grade students of elementary schools with the results of the validation of the media experts by 95% and the results of the validation of the material experts by 87.5% in aspects of the development of instructional media. The implementation phase, researchers obtained the results of student responses of 95.3%. This shows that the literacy learning media (BATU) is recommended to be used in the learning process of reading and writing to motivate students to be more diligent in reading and writing
