UJI AKTIVITAS ANTIBAKTERI FRAKSI ETANOL DAUN SIRIH HIJAU (Piper betle L.) TERHADAP PERTUMBUHAN BAKTERI Propionibacterium acnes SECARA IN VITRO

Background: Green betel leaf (Piper betle L.) is a plant that has been scientifically proven to have antibacterial activity. This plant has the ability as an antiseptic, antioxidant and fungicide. The active compounds contained in Piper betle L. which have antibacterial properties are alkaloids, flavonoids, polyphenols, and essential oils. The other alternative ways that can be used is to utilize the active substances contained in the green betel leaf medicinal plants. The purpose of this study to determine antibacterial activity of ethanol fraction of green betel leaf (Piper betle L.) against Propionibacterium acnes. Objectives: This research aims to determine the antibacterial activity of the ethanol fraction of green betel leaf (Piper betle L.) against Propionibacterium acnes. Method: Identification of class of compounds that contained in the ethanol fraction of green betel leaf (Piper betle L.) using thin layer chromatography (TLC) methods. In testing of antibacterial activity using the disc diffusion method. Result and Conclusion: The results of inhibition zone diameter in this test are at a concentration of 125 mg / ml of 6.97 mm and 6.2 mm, at a concentration of 250 mg / ml of 9.76 mm and 6.4 mm, while at a concentration of 500 mg / ml obtained inhibition zone of 11.57 mm and 8.4 mm. According to CLSI theory 27th edition (2017) states that the diameter of the inhibitory zone obtained is included in the resistant category
