UPAYA ORANGTUA DALAM MENCEGAH CEDERA PADA ANAK USIA DI BAWAH 5 TAHUN

Background Injuries often occur in children, usually starting from the child's curiosity to explore something and experiment without being balanced with the ability to understand something or react to danger. From the results of preliminary studies that have been carried out in Karangploso Puskemas found the results of injuries by type for the last 3 years in children under 5 years as many as 172 children. Injuries due to fall 20%, traffic injuries 26%, sharp / blunt injuries 18%, burning 14%, sinking 6%, poisoning 8%, and violence 8%. Purpose The purpose of this study was to determine the efforts of parents in preventing injury in children under 5 years old. Method The design of this study uses qualitative research. Qualitative research is a type of research whose findings are not obtained through statistical procedures or other forms of calculation and aim at expressing symptoms in a holistic-contextual manner through collecting data from interviews and observations. Results From the results of this case study, researchers can conclude that the efforts of parents in preventing injuries in children under 5 years old obtained 3 themes namely general security, security inside the home, and security outside the home. Discussion Education has an important role to increase the awareness of parents or caregivers as an effort to prevent injury and to help them understand the safety of children by ensuring a safe environment for children
