KESANTUNAN BERBAHASA DALAM MASYARAKAT SIKKA

Politeness politeness is not only related to linguistic aspects but also cultural aspects (social and moral rules). The problems studied were (1) the form of politeness of language in Sikka society, (2) the function of politeness of language in Sikka society, and (3) the meaning of politeness of language in Sikka society. This study aims to describe (1) the form of politeness of language in the Sikka community, (2) the function of language politeness in the Sikka community, and (3) the meaning of politeness of language in the Sikka community. Data were collected using a competent see involved method followed by note taking and recording and interview techniques. The data in this study are in the form of speech by people who speak Sikka. This study uses a qualitative approach with descriptive methods. Data analysis techniques through four stages which include (1) collecting and identifying data, (2) classification, (3) transcribing, and (4) analyzing and concluding. The results of this study are as follows: First, the form of politeness of language in the Sikka community is the maxim of the sympathizers, maxim of agreement, maxim of generosity, maxim of appreciation, maxim of wisdom. From the data found, there were four markers of language politeness in Krowe ethnic Sikka community (1) being careful in choosing words. (2) Give a positive response to the speech partner. (3) Respond to praise from the speech partner with a humble nature. (4) Receiving input from the speech partner in order to minimize disagreement. Second, the function of politeness in language in the Sikka community, namely the function of stating information, the approving function, the explanatory function, the interrogative stated function, the solicitation function, and the request function.
