The rate of cigarette smoking in Australia has been stable over recent years following many years of decline. Enhancing the provision of cessation advice in general practice is crucial if further reductions in smoking are to occur. It is important that new strategies build on already existing expertise, are viable within a general practice setting, and are engaging for both practitioner and patient.</p
