This paper examines the concern expressed by hospital administrators and laboratory managers relating to decreasing revenues as a result of the introduction of Diagnostic Related Groups (DRGs) by the Federal Government and other health care insurance intermediaries. With these agencies imposing tighter cost controls? hospital laboratories must be as innovative as possible in order to survive.
