In spite of remarkable advances in its socioeconomic setting, Jordan has one of the lowest female labor force participation rates among Arab countries, which are generally among the lowest in the world. Investigation of the reasons behind the underutilization of women in Jordan is overdue. This study explores the nature and magnitude of the determinants of female labor force participation in Jordan. Also, it reaches conclusions that may be useful to policy makers for devising policies to better integrate women in the development process. This study utilizes the 1982-83 Manpower Survey conducted by the Department of Statistics in Jordan.
