This diploma thesis (Heterotrophic incorporation of selenium in Chlorella sp.) focuses on characterisation of the genus Chlorella and large-scale use of algae for biofuel and starch production. Besides that, the thesis contains an up-to-date summary of forms of autotrophic algae cultivation ranging from large-volume tanks covering the area of dozens of hectares down to laboratory cultivation in photobioreactors and heterotrophic cultivation of algae in fermenters.
