This master thesis deals with the study and design of upholstered seating for interior use. It consists of two parts. The theoretical part covers the history of seating, typology, anthropometry and ergonomy. Furthermore, it describes the requirements for the construction of furniture, creation of upholstery and for safety. The practical part of this work describes the design process inspired by natural structures and the construction of a prototype. First, my research on existing pieces of furniture inspired by nature is presented. This is followed by an introduction to my design in the form of sketches and visualizations.
