This master´s thesis deals with the design of the headstock of a turning center. The aim of the work is the design solution of turning headstock with output of about 5 kW with the possibility of positioning in the C axis. The introductory part of this thesis is focused on the descripti-on of the basic parameters of the headstock and turning centers on the market. The next part deals with choice of cutting conditions and calculation of spindle parameters. These calculations are verified using the FEM method. Based on the calculations and design requirements, a headstock model with drawing documentation is created
