This thesis is focused on finding an optimal working area of a pump running in a turbine mode and choosing a suitable pump from a company catalogue. Calculations of a water tower are accomplished based on basic equations of hydromechanics. The optimal working area of a pump running in turbine mode is determined with respect to maximum power. Based on the turbine characteristics is found the pump design point for which is chosen a mass-produced pump from a company catalogue
