This bachelor's thesis consists of the annotated translation of selected chapters from the book Australia: The Essential Guide to Customs & Culture by Barry Penney and Gina Teague from the Culture Smart! edition of cultural guides. In its first part, the thesis presents the translated chapters focused mainly on fundamental historical, geographical and political information about Australia and on Australian cuisine. The second part of the thesis is a commentary to the translation comprising the analysis of the source text and translation problems and the typology of translation shifts in the target text.
