The Youth Protection Act was the first standard to define the age at which a young person could consume alcoholic beverages. I try to shine a light on the reasons behind why the law was specifically created in 1922.Following its genealogy and being inspired by Foucault, I go through the numerous norms which society guarded itself against serious alcohol use. Subsequently, I follow the process of approving the law itself, from its proposal to its approval in the Senate. I pay close attention to its prohibition in Slovakia, the reason for which was the image of Slovakia as a country loaded with governmentally allocated alcohol.
