This thesis deals with design of solar lithium ion battery charger using microcontroller controlled step down DC/DC converter. Control algorithm is designed to utilize most the of the energy coming from the solar photovoltaic panel, by using maximum power point tracking technology. This makes it as efficient as possible at any irradiation intensity level or temperature
