Many theories can be used to understand the drivers that shape the human resource practices of a country’s organisations. The convergence and divergence debate discusses global and national level drivers, while integrated models also capture structural and human agent drivers at the organisational level. However, these integrated models have been developed based on research in multinational corporations of Western developed countries. As such, there is a gap in the research on the drivers of human resource practices in South Asian developing countries like Sri Lanka.
