Rabbi Alan Sokobin Interview

Rabbi Alan Mayor Sokobin has lived and worked in the Toledo area for nearly half of his life. As Senior Rabbi at the Temple, Congregation Shomer Emunim for 21 years and a community leader, he has lived his faith in the larger community. An endeared spiritual leader, Rabbi Sokobin also graduated from law school and taught Jewish law at the University of Toledo. In this interview, he discusses his family roots and early education in New Jersey. He share stories about joining the Navy and his service during World War II. Paths later led him to rabbinic studies in New York, marriage to his beloved wife Mickey, fatherhood, and relocation to Toledo. In addition to his work at Shomer Emunim, he was active in mediation with labor issues, persued an understanding of law, and worked with advocacy for abused children
