Chinese Audience’ Perception and Interests in Western Modern Arts

In recent years in China, an increasing amount of Western modern arts exhibitions are organized. However, these Western arts exhibitions in China are mostly organized in tier-one cities. There is a gap of Western modern arts circulation in the Chinese market considering that prior political and economic factors set barriers for the Chinese audiences to learn more about Western modern arts. The development of globalization and China’s opening and reform offer important opportunities for Chinese audiences to learn about Western modern arts. Hence, through primary and secondary researches, this research project confirms that there is necessary to organize more Western art exhibitions. Taking the local market trends into account, it is also necessary to leverage the development of the Internet and social media.
