THE EMERGENCE OF A NEW PARADIGM FOR PRESERVING THE TERRITORY OF FAMILY LIVESTOCK FARMING IN THE BRAZILIAN PAMPA

This study discusses issues related to territorial conflicts in the presence of a reconfigured and diverse rural in the premise of sustainable rural development before an agroecological paradigm. It presents agroecological strategies that promote the permanence of family livestock farmers by strengthening their ties with the ecosystem, their production and their way of life. The research tools used were bibliographical and empirical research on agroecological methodologies and strategies that cover the concepts that guide the study: agroecology, family livestock farming and Pampa ecosystem. Therefore, a technical visit was carried out in a demonstration unit of the Project RS Biodiversidade, located in Santana do Livramento-RS, focusing on rotational grazing, interview with the unit’s owner-producer and with the Emater technician responsible for carrying out the activity. The results highlight the increase of productive efficiency and the promotion of environmental conservation in the Pampa, by using local resources and providing the efficiency of the agroecosystem for the preservation of family livestock farming.Key words: Agroecology; Pampa; Family livestock farmer; Natural resources.Este estudo discute questões relacionadas aos conflitos territoriais, na presença de um rural reconfigurado e diverso na premissa do desenvolvimento rural sustentável frente à um paradigma agroecológico. Apresenta estratégias agroecológicas que promovem a permanência do pecuarista familiar fortalecendo seus laços com o ecossistema, sua produção e seu modo de vida. Os instrumentos de pesquisa utilizados foram a pesquisa bibliográfica e empírica das metodologias e estratégias agroecológicas que abrangem os conceitos que norteiam a pesquisa: agroecologia, pecuária familiar e ecossistema Pampa. Para tanto, foi realizada uma visita técnica em uma unidade demonstrativa do Projeto RS Biodiversidade, localizada em Santana do Livramento-RS, com foco no pastoreio rotativo, entrevista junto ao proprietário-produtor e o técnico da Emater responsável pela execução da atividade. Como resultados destaca-se o incremento da eficiência produtiva e a promoção da conservação ambiental no Pampa, utilizando recursos locais e provocando a eficiência do agroecossistema para a preservação da pecuária familiar
