Playing as an adjutant tool for conducting functional analysis in child behavior therapy

A functional analysis of aggressive behaviors and relationship problems at school of an 11-year boy was performed through means of a game, which was devised in child behavior therapy sessions. With the help of this game, behavior problems of the child became known, were defined, and its possible functions understood. Some of the problems presented by the child were the same as those told by the parents and school officials, however the game allowed knowledge of other problems, and permitted a better understanding of the case through information given by the child while playing. Keywords: child behavior terapy; game; functional analysis.Uma análise funcional das agressões e problemas de relacionamento na escola de um menino de 11 anos foi realizada a partir de um jogo de percurso construído em sessões de terapia comportamental infantil. Através desse jogo pôde-se fazer o levantamento das queixas do cliente, operacionalizá-las junto ao mesmo e entender suas possíveis funções. Foi possível constatar que algumas das queixas apresentadas pela criança eram iguais àquelas apresentadas pela família e pela escola e que o jogo possibilitou ainda, conhecer novas queixas, favorecendo um entendimento maior do caso com dados fornecidos pela própria criança em situação lúdica.
