Teaching and Legitimizing Definitions of Law: Elements for a sociology of the expansion of Law graduate programs in Rio Grande do Sul

The present work intends to carry through a sociology of the Brazilian legal field in the 90s. It analyzes the close correspondence between the differentiation of the teaching of Law - as place of production of definitions of legal problems - and the mobilization of determined uses of Lawyering and State careers in this period. This relation allows for an apprehension of the emergence of academic career as a space of production of conceptions and specific uses of the Judiciary power. This process is closely linked to the repositioning of the jurists in the space of power in Brazil, after the changes in the political conjuncture of the country that have their institutional expression in the promulgation of the 1988s Constitution.O presente trabalho se propõe a realizar uma sociologia do campo jurídico do Rio Grande do Sul na década de 1990. Foi analisada a estreita correspondência entre a diferenciação do ensino do direito, como lugar de produção de definições de problemas jurídicos, e a mobilização de determinados usos da advocacia e das carreiras de Estado, neste período. Esta relação permite apreender a emergência da carreira acadêmica como espaço de produção de concepções e usos específicos do direito. Tal processo está estreitamente ligado ao reposicionamento dos juristas no espaço de poder no Brasil, após as mudanças na conjuntura política do país que têm sua expressão institucional na promulgação da Constituição de 1988
