WMPG celebrates the lives of Black men and women throughout the month of February. In 1960, six-year-old Ruby Bridges was the first African American child to integrate into an all-white elementary school in New Orleans, Louisiana. In spite of numerous challenges, including death threats, she persevered and still lives in the same city today.https://digitalcommons.usm.maine.edu/wmpg_bhm/1032/thumbnail.jp
