Dr. Kradwell dedicated his career to the hospital and has the longest history of service with the hospital (60 years) from 1905 to 1965. He was one of Dr. Dewey’s assistant physicians. Dr. Kradwell established the Ada P. Kradwell Foundation in 1946, in his wife’s name and memory. This foundation provided the financial assistance needed for the establishment of the Milwaukee Sanitarium Foundation, Inc. in 1954. The Ada P. Kradwell Foundation bought up the hospital’s outstanding assets from stockholders in order to allow the hospital to change its financial status to a non-profit medical institution.
