In multicultural societies, different language learning possibilities are paid much attention to. In Estonian schools, language immersion programmes have been successfully implemented. In Estonia, the implementation of the early language immersion programme started in 2000. At the same time, the problem of meeting the objectives of boys and girls has been raised. The objective of the present study is to find out – based on teachers’ assessments – the results in meeting the objectives of the curriculum at the end of the first stage at school by the boys and girls having participated in the early language immersion programme.
