Wackett Widgeon II of RAAF under repairs at Darwin, having arrived on 6 May 1928 from Mascot, NSW, crewed by its designer Lawrence Wackett. It was to have flown to Singapore to rendezvous with RAF Southampton for Australian visit. The aerodrome was insufficient for full load departure, fitted with floats but two take-off attempts aborted. With lesser load flew to Broome WA on 13 May and met Southampton there.Young, Mayse
