In 1884 Marie graduated as a Nurse at the Adelaide Hospital. Marie was appointed matron of the Palmerston Hospital in 1896. Funding cuts meant that she was given the position of acting matron only. In 1897 she took two months leave suffering from neurasthenia. By 1904 her health was deteriorating further. Marie took sick leave early in 1906 and died in March of that year. Marie is remembered for her services to nursing in the Darwin community.Nurs
