Robb's unit embarked from Melbourne on board HMAT A38 'Ulysses' on 25 October 1916 and arrived in Plymouth 28 December 1916. He left England 28 January 1917 but on reaching Etaples was struck down with bronchitis. He was evacuated back to England and was treated in the Norfolk War Hospital and the 3rd Auxiliary Hospital before being discharged.
