Union Reefs Project Gold Mine extension of baseline mosquito monitoring report

The Union Reefs Project Gold Mine previously completed a 12 month baseline mosquito monitoring program in December 1994 as part of EIS requirements (Montgomery, 1994). This program was conducted in co-operation with the Medical Entomology Branch of the DH&CS (now Territory Health Services). The Environmental Officer subsequently elected to continue the monitoring program and expand it to include six sites. This is a summary of the results of the second period of baseline monitoring from December 1994 to March 1996. The mosquito species, their relative numbers and the spatial and temporal distribution are presented with a discussion on their medical importance, possible breeding sites and control options
