The Northern Territory Department of Health introduced a Perinatal Statistics data collection system on a six-months trial basis on 1 Jul 85. Congenital malformations noted at or near birth were also recorded. Apart from a few minor problems, the system was successful, and was officially introduced throughout the NT on 1 Jan 86. This report records the malformations recorded during the initial 18 months of operation
