7 foot crocodile sunbaking on the banks of the Daly River on a fishing trip with one of the local fishing guides. My fishing guide friend Nevil had been telling me how the older and larger crocodiles would slip back into the water as soon as they heard the sound of a boat engine starting to slow down, which he demonstrated much to my amazement, Nevil explained that this was due to the fact that these older croc's (40 years plus) had been shot at in the early days when crocodile shooting was legal in the Northern Territory. Nevil went on to say that the younger croc's where fearless due to the fact that they have been protected now for over 20 years and that you could almost pat them if you tried hard enough, to prove his point Nevil then proceeded to slowly drive the bow of the tinny up one of the mud banks of the Daly River to within metres of one of the dozens of crocs, that where quietly sunbaking. I was then instructed to climb to the front of the boat and make this image, which I did very reluctantly.Clark, Darren
