Aim of the present study was to evaluate acute bronchodilator efficacy single doses of dry powder formulation of tiotropium (18 mcg) and combination of tiotropium with formoterol (18 + 12 mcg) in patients with COPD. We also evaluated improvement in exercise tolerance and sensation of dyspnea before and after exercise by Borg scale of dyspnea. Total of 27 stable COPD outpatients who were enrolled in this double blind, randomized, crossover, single dose study, of whom 21 completed both the treatment periods. Results of our study showed a faster onset of action for the combination of tiotropium with formoterol than tiotropium alone.
