Efektifitas Edukasi TB melalui Booklet Berbahasa Tetun Terhadap Pengetahuan dan Sikap Keluarga Dalam Pencegahan Penularan TB Di Centru Saude Comoro, Dili, Timor Leste

ABSTRACT Pulmonary Tuberculosis or Tuberculosis is an infectious disease caused by the bacterium mycobacterium tuberculosis or commonly called TB bacteria. Most of these bacteria often attack the respiratory system namely the lungs, but this bacterium can also attack other bodily organ system. A long period of tuberculosis treatment result in some patients getting bored, due to the lack of knowledge of patients and families about the treatment of pulmonary tuberculosis. Educational media through the Tetun language booklet is an interesting design because in the booklet it contains sentences and images that are easy to understand and use the local language that is Tetun, so that it can motivate patients and families to read in order to increase knowledge and change attitudes of both families and patients in maintaining health and improving the quality of a healty life. Methods : using one group pre-post test design. Research Instrument : Questionnaire about family knowledge and attitudes in the prevention of pulmonary TB   Result: Family knowledge increased before being given a booklet at the level of good family knowledge with a score of 92,% to 100 % after being given a booklet. Family attitudes also increased before being given a booklet at a sufficient level of family attitudes with a score 69,8% to 72,6% after being given a booklet. Wilcoxon signed test showed a significant increase in knowledge and family attitudes in preventing pulmonary TB transmission. Conclusion: TB education through the tetum language media booklet is effective to increasing knowledge and changing  family attitudes in preventing TB transmission.
