Helicobacter pylori, a neutralophile chronically infects the gastric stomach of more than half of the world’s population. Infection with the organism is associated with acute or chronic duodenal/gastric ulcer disease, gastritis, gastric adenocarcinoma, mucosa-associated tissue lymphoma (MALT) and primary B-cell gastric lymphoma and has been grouped as a class one carcinogen by the World Health Organisation (WHO).
