Based on the 2015 Intercensal Population Survey, the maternal mortality rate is still high at 305 per 100,000 live births. One of the efforts to prevent maternal death is through antenatal class activities which are group learning facilities for pregnant women to improve maternal knowledge and skills regarding pregnancy, childbirth, postpartum care and newborns. In Indonesia the antenatal class is still weak in its implementation although it is known to be very likely to reduce maternal mortality.
