The article describes the intensification of the phenomenon of erotic and pornographic publications at the turn of the 19th and 20th century and the perception of this phenomenon. The paper also attempts to present selected legal acts aimed at producers and distributors of controversial content, including the arrangements of international conferences, the rights of the invaders, and Polish regulations from the interwar period, together with relevant instructions for officials. The next part of the study deals with the reception of pornography by part of public opinion.
