With downlink and uplink decoupling (DUDe), downlink (DL) and uplink (UL) need not be associated with the same base station in a wireless network. It helps to maximize DL and UL data rates, which and can lead to significant capacity, power, and outage gains. There are limitations with using DL/UL decoupling for CBRS and other wireless systems where resources (such as channel bandwidth, maximum equivalent isotropically radiated power (maxEIRP), etc.) for some base stations are controlled by a Spectrum Access System (SAS) or an SAS-like entity.
