This thesis proposes to discuss one of the basic New Testament passages dealing with baptism and its significance for baptized believers, Romans 6:1-14. In this section the Apostle Paul speaks of one of the mighty, saving effects of the sacrament, the fact that it establishes spiritual union of the baptized with Christ. This is sometimes referred to as the mystical union of the believer and his Lord. Because of the union with Jesus, the child of God participates spiritually in Christ\u27s crucifixion, death, burial, resurrection, and continuing life.
