Attitudes Towards Alcohol Addiction

The harmful influences produced by stigmas concerning alcohol addiction are becoming more prevalent in today\u27s society. The abuse of alcohol consumption touches every individual whether the individual is aware of this or not. The level of general education on this topic is less than satisfactory and is contributing to today\u27s growing addiction that few individuals are willing to combat. According to extensive research done by Psychology Today in 2016, alcoholism costs America over $80 billion dollars a year. This is 30 percent of suicides, 46 percent of teen suicides, as well as consuming one of four hospital admissions. Without the support of the government and the influence of educational facilities, we lack the resources and influence to be able to change the way the public views addiction and choose to support treatment and prevention efforts. In our research, we will be focusing on surveying Midwestern populations ages eighteen and up which will include all genders and backgrounds. We will be implementing a new and creative way to successfully report on the public\u27s opinion about alcohol addiction, treatment availability funds, and education on alcohol addiction. There is a lack of resources and influence to change public view on addiction and choose to support treatment and prevention efforts.
