Rarity aside, serial murder is one of the most fascinating subjects in criminology. This panel will examine serial murder from a criminological perspective. More specifically, this panel will discuss the emergence of serial murder in the U.S. and the problems in adequately defining it. Moreover, this panel will explore the psychopathy, biogenics, and social explanations for serial homicide. We will address criminal paraphilia and sort out the demographic, social, and behavioral characteristics of male and female serial killers while providing attention and compassion to victims.
