This article seeks to observe how the contemporary Children’s Literature deals with the themes related to the African diaspora, taking into account the cultural and identity aspects of the black people. As a research object we chose two books Os tesouros de Monifa by Brazilian author Sonia Rosa and As tranças de Bintou by French writer Sylviane Anna Diouf. Both stories reflect the affectivity and appreciation of the family and their cultural heritages. However, one situated in the African context and the other narrated on Brazilian soil.
