The vast majority of sexually active adults will be exposed to the human papillomavirus (HPV) during their lifetime.HPV related diseases, including cervical and oropharyngeal cancers, pose a serious public health threat, which could be largely diminished with adequate vaccination. Unfortunately, misconceptions continue to exist surrounding the HPV vaccine that prevents the United States (US) from reaching its vaccination goals. This article will explore barriers to HPV vaccination and provide helpful solutions for physician assistants to use in practice
