First published in 1957, The Oxford Dictionary of the Christian Church is the long-established market leading reference work covering all aspects of the Christian Church. It contains over 7,000 cross-referenced A–Z entries, from theology; churches and denominations; patristic scholarship; and the Bible; to the church calendar and its organization; popes; archbishops; saints; and mystics. Most entries include a detailed bibliography of the main sources – this area was the most thoroughly revised at the last edition, the third revised. The fourth edition of the Dictionary is edited by Andrew Louth, Professor Emeritus of Patristic and Byzantine Studies, Durham University, assisted by an Editorial Advisory Board
