Experiences and exposures that happen early on in life can have long-term implications for health (Morgan, 2004). School is an important context for young people’s health due to the amount of time they spend within the school setting. Experiences at school are known to have a strong influence on young people’s social and emotional health and development (Weare, 2000; Wells, 2000), as well as their academic achievement (Moon & Callaghan, 1999).
