This presentation explores the value of open GeoSpatial data. It considers the direct and indirect costs of opening access to GeoSpatial data and describes how dead portals serve as barriers to access. The presentation highlights that spatial and technical literacy are required to use geospatial data. Data poverty skews analyses toward places that have data, which may disadvantage areas unable to provide equivalent detail in useful formats for researchers. </div
