UID/ANT/04038/2019Despite its progressive introduction of new forms of mobility-based social classification, Portugal seldom features in border studies literature. Yet, it presents itself as an interesting case on many regards. As with other European cases, the national make-up of the migrant population in Portugal is both the result of the country’s colonial and post-colonial relations and the product of its integration into the EU common space. Yet, its rhetoric, priorities and policies on migration set Portugal apart from its European counterparts.
