Microelectrodes based on poly(3,4-ethylenedioxythiophene) doped with poly(styrene sulfonate) (PEDOT:PSS) are able to record the oxidation of catecholamines released from chromaffin cells during exocytosis with a high signal-to-noise ratio. This result represents a new capability for organic electronics that could lead to devices that interface with the nervous system in novel ways. Copyright © 2011 WILEY-VCH Verlag GmbH & Co.
