La antropología y la economía

After a brief discussion of the early manifestations of Economic Anthropology having characteristics of Victorian Evolutionism in the second half of the Nineteenth Century, this article proceeds to a brief presentation of the two most important founding fathers of the discipline: the Polish-born British anthropologist Bronislaw Malinowsk and the French sociologist-philosopher Marcel Mauss. The middle section discusses encounters between the mentalism that developed among the formalists and the material realism that characterized the substantivists, including the development of a marxist approach and the anthropological study of peasant economies and the world system of Wallerstein. The article ends with a brief mention of a promising new approach: the anthropological study of consumption.Se estudia el proceso histórico que ha producido la antropología económica de hoy, con sus diferentes tendencias. Se inicia una breve excursión a través de las manifestaciones de una antropología económica incipiente en la segunda mitad del siglo XIX, durante el evolucionismo decimonónico, y se presenta a los dos fundadores más importantes, Bronislaw Malinowski y Marcel Mauss. Se discute el desencuentro entre el mentalismo de los formalistas y el realismo de los sustantivistas, y los campos más importantes de la antropología económica moderna: la construcción de una antropología económica marxista, el estudio antropológico del campesinado y del mercado capitalista mundial, para terminar con una breve discusión de una nueva tendencia prometedora: un estudio antropológico del consumo
