Accommodating inevitable misalignment is one of the couplings main functions and, in order to predict theoretically the effects of this malfunction on machine behavior, it is essential to introduce the flexible coupling model in the system’s equation of motion. Structural analysis of metallic disc coupling is conducted by means of finite element method, in which the flexible disc component is modeled using thin shell formulation, yielding linear coefficients of stiffness due to misalignment. Afterwards, cyclic forces and moments due to restoring effects of the coupling are considered in rotating system steady state response.
