Single parent households in Czech republic

This diploma thesis deals with the topic of single-parent households in the Czech Republic. The aim of the thesis was to bring a comprehensive view on the issue of single-parent households using data from different sources. Firstly, the focus is on the progression of the number of single-parent households and the basic characteristics such as gender, education and marital status of the heads of these households, using data from the Population and Housing Census and the Labour Force Survey. In the next part, using data from the Statistics on Income and Living Conditions, an analysis of the income situation of single-parent households is performed, which specifically testifies to the significantly worsened financial situation of these households and higher dependence on social income compared to partner households with children. The last part of the thesis presents an analysis of the work-family balance with the focus on single mothers, evaluating the role of the state and the contribution of non-profit organizations (specifically Aperio) in solving problems with work and family harmonization.Tato diplomová práce se zabývá tématem domácností s jedním rodičem v Česku. Cílem práce bylo přinést komplexní pohled na problematiku domácností s jedním rodičem s využitím dat z různých zdrojů. Nejprve je věnována pozornost vývoji počtů domácností s jedním rodičem a základním charakteristikám jako je pohlaví, vzdělání a rodinný stav osob v čele těchto domácností, a to s využitím dat ze Sčítání lidu, domů a bytů a Výběrového šetření pracovních sil. V další části je s využitím dat z výběrového šetření Životní podmínky provedena analýza příjmové situace domácností s jedním rodičem, která konkrétně vypovídá a značně zhoršené finanční situaci těchto domácností a vyšší závislosti na sociálních příjmech oproti partnerským domácnostem s dětmi. V poslední části práce je prezentována analýza možnosti sladění rodinného a pracovního života se zaměřením na matky samoživitelky, zhodnocení role státu a přínos činnosti neziskových organizací (zde konkrétně společnosti Aperio) při řešení problémů s harmonizací práce a rodiny
